Purpose: This article explains how Prescription Engagement (RxInform) messages are delivered to patients, including quiet hours and time zone logic.
Audience: Healthcare providers, pharmacies, and hospitals using Prescription Engagement (RxInform) to communicate with patients about their prescriptions.
Prescription Engagement (RxInform) is a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform that allows healthcare providers, pharmacies, and hospitals to keep patients informed and on track with their medications.
Prescription Engagement (RxInform) messages are secure messages automatically generated by providers or pharmacies to:
- Confirm that a prescription has been sent to the pharmacy.
- Allow patients to review prescription details and pharmacy information.
- Inform patients about available savings or medication information.
When will my patients receive RxInform messages?
To ensure a positive experience for your patients, Prescription Engagement (RxInform) does not send messages between 8:00 PM and 8:00 AM in the patient's local time zone.
If a prescription is sent after 8:00 PM, the patient will not receive an Prescription Engagement (RxInform) text right away. Instead, the message will be delivered the following morning after 8:00 AM in the patient's time zone, based on the zip code in their profile. This ensures patients receive communications at a convenient time.
No action needed. Prescription Engagement (RxInform) automatically respects these quiet hours. If a patient mentions they did not receive a text right away, quiet hours may be the reason. They should receive the message the following morning if the prescription was sent after hours.
Time zone delivery examples
Example 1: Time zone delivery based on the patient's profile
Dr. Colin is a provider on the East Coast (Eastern Time). He sends a prescription to a patient whose profile lists a Mountain Time zip code. RxInform schedules the message based on the patient's zip code, not the provider's location.
Result: The message is delivered at 8:00 AM Mountain Time, per the patient's profile.
Example 2: Patient traveling across time zones
A patient whose profile lists a Mountain Time zip code is currently traveling on the East Coast. Even though the prescription is sent to an East Coast pharmacy, RxInform uses the Mountain Time zone from the patient's profile to determine delivery timing.
Result: The message is delivered at 8:00 AM Mountain Time, not at the local time where the patient is traveling.
