Purpose: Use this article to change your EPCS passphrase when you know your current passphrase and want to update it for security reasons.
Audience: EPCS providers who completed identity proofing via Experian and have an EPCS passphrase.
Steps to change your passphrase
To change your EPCS passphrase as a security measure, log in to EPCS Gold and follow the steps below.
1. Go to the EPCS Gold Prescriber Dashboard.
2. Log in with your NPI and passphrase.
3. Select a token, enter a one-time PIN (OTP) from the selected token, and continue logging in.
4. Select the Profile tab. Then select Change EPCS Passphrase.
5. Select an active token associated with your account and submit.
6. Follow the prompts to enter your current passphrase and create a new passphrase.
Your new passphrase must meet the following requirements:
- 8-20 characters
- At least 1 lowercase letter
- At least 1 uppercase letter
- At least 1 number
- No more than 2 consecutive uses of the same character
- No special characters
You may now use your updated passphrase to sign controlled substance prescriptions.
