Approved tokens for e-prescribing controlled substances

Purpose: This article outlines the authenticator types approved for e-prescribing controlled substances and provides guidance on how to obtain each token.

Audience: Providers who e-prescribe controlled substances and need to select and set up an approved authenticator.

 

The following authenticators each generate a one-time passcode every 30 seconds. The token you select depends on the DrFirst software and integrations you use.

DEA requirement: You must e-prescribe controlled substances on a separate device from your authenticator.
