Purpose: Explains the difference between the login password, signature password, and passphrase in iPrescribe, and provides reset instructions for each. The passphrase section applies only to EPCS-enrolled providers who completed identity proofing through Experian.
Audience: All iPrescribe and E-Prescribing Desktop (Rcopia) users. The passphrase section applies only to EPCS-enrolled providers who completed identity proofing through Experian.
iPrescribe uses up to three separate credentials depending on your role and registration method. This article explains each one and how to reset it.
E-Prescribing Desktop (Rcopia) and iPrescribe often share the same username and passwords when accessing both platforms for the same practice, unless otherwise noted.
Login password
What it does: Lets you log in to the iPrescribe app.
-
About your login password
You created your username and login password when you first registered for iPrescribe.
To reset your login password, select the Need help logging in? link on the iPrescribe login screen.
If you cannot reset your password using that link, contact the admin at your practice.
Signature password
What it does: Required to send all prescriptions, including non-controlled substances.
-
About your signature password
Your signature password is created automatically during registration and auto-populates into the signature password field when you prescribe.
An E-Prescribing Desktop (Rcopia) admin can turn off the signature password for providers at your practice.
Before you reset: You will need your current login password to complete this process. If you have forgotten your login password, reset your login password first before continuing.
To reset your signature password:
- Log in to the iPrescribe app.
- Select Menu.
- Select Settings.
- Select Signature password.
- Enter your current login password, then create a new signature password.
If you are sending a controlled substance prescription, you also need a passphrase and token PIN. See the Passphrase section below.
Passphrase
What it does: Required to send controlled substances
Passphrase - Experian
If you completed identity proofing through Experian, your passphrase is a separate credential that you created during that process. It is distinct from your login password.
- If you need to reset your passphrase, go to: Reset EPCS Passphrase.
- To reset your passphrase, you will need access to your registered authentication token and knowledge of your security question/answer.
- Providers who cannot reset their passphrase must complete identity proofing again.
Passphrase - ID.me
If you completed identity proofing through ID.me, your iPrescribe login password also serves as your controlled substance password (passphrase). There is no separate passphrase to manage.
- Because the login password and passphrase are the same, resetting your login password (via the Forgot Password link) will also reset your controlled substance password.
- There is no separate passphrase reset process for ID.me users. If you need to change your controlled substance password, reset your login password instead.
