Types of passwords

This article clarifies the difference between a login password, a signature password, and an passphrase (also called a signing password).

Note: Rcopia and iPrescribe often use the same username and passwords when accessing both platforms for the same practice, unless otherwise noted.

Login password is used to log in to iPrescribe app.
  • You created a username and password to log in to the app when you first registered for iPrescribe.
  • Reset your password by clicking the Forgot Password link.
    • If you are unable to reset your login password using Forgot Password, please reach out to the Admin at your practice.

Signature password is to send ALL prescriptions.

The Signature Password is used to send ALL prescriptions.

  • The signature password is created automatically during the registration process and will auto populate into the signature password field when prescribing controlled and non-controlled substances.
  • There is a setting where an Rcopia Admin may turn off the Signature Password so that there is no need for providers to enter the signature password.

To reset your Signature Password, log in to the iPrescribe app, then go to:

  1. Menu
  2. Settings
  3. Signature password.
  4. Enter your current login password and you can create a new signature password.

If you are sending a controlled substance, you may also need to provide a controlled substance password (passphrase) and token pin.

Passphrase (signing password) is to e-prescribe controlled substances.
  • The passphrase (controlled substance password) in combination with a one-time pin or one-time passcode (OTP) from a registered token are required for a provider to send a controlled substance prescription.
  • To create a passphrase, a prescriber needs to have completed identity proofing via either Experian or ID.me.

Passphrase - Experian

  • If you registered through Experian, and need to reset your passphrase, go to: Reset EPCS Passphrase.
  • Providers who are unable to reset their passphrase will have to complete identity proofing again.

Passphrase - ID.me

  • For ID.me registered users, the login password for iPrescribe and the passphrase is the same.
