About RxInform Messages in iPrescribe

RxInform is a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform that allows health care providers, pharmacies, or hospitals to keep patients informed and on track with medications.

RxInform messages are secure messages automatically generated by providers or pharmacies to:

  • Confirm that a prescription has been sent to the pharmacy.
  • Allow patients to review prescription details and pharmacy information.
  • Inform patients about available savings or medication information.

When will my patients receive RxInform messages?

To ensure a positive experience for your patients, RxInform will not message patients between 8:00 PM and 8:00 AM in their local time zone.

What this means:

If a prescription is sent after 8:00 PM, the patient will not receive an RxInform text right away.

Instead, they’ll receive it the next morning after 8:00 AM in their time zone based on the patient’s zip code.

This helps avoid unwanted late-night messages for your patients and ensures communication happens at a more convenient time.

Example 1: Time zone delivery based on patient's profile

Dr. Colin is a provider located on the East Coast (Eastern Time), and he sends a prescription to a patient whose profile lists a Mountain Time zip code. Even though Colin is in a different time zone, the RxInform message is scheduled based on the patient’s zip code, not the provider’s.

Result: The message is delivered at 8:00 AM Mountain Time, per the patient’s profile.

Example 2: Patient traveling across time zones

A patient whose profile lists a Mountain Time zip code is currently traveling on the East Coast. Even if the prescription is sent to a pharmacy in the East Coast time zone, RxInform will still use the Mountain Time zone from the patient’s profile to determine delivery timing.

Result: The message is still delivered at 8:00 AM Mountain Time, not local time where the patient is traveling.

No action needed
You don’t need to do anything extra—RxInform automatically respects these quiet hours.
If your patient ever mentions they didn’t receive a text right away, this could be why! They should see it in the morning if the prescription was sent after hours.
