Purpose: This article explains how to associate multiple authenticators (tokens) to an iPrescribe account to maintain uninterrupted access to EPCS.
Audience: Providers who have activated EPCS in iPrescribe and want to add a hard token or additional authenticators to their account.
Prerequisite: Activate E-prescribing of Controlled Substances (EPCS) in iPrescribe
This article is for users registering for iPrescribe app on their own (self-registered).

If you will electronically prescribe controlled substances in iPrescribe, we highly recommend that you associate multiple authenticators (tokens) that generate one-time pins (OTP) to your account.
This action may prevent you from losing access to e-prescribing controlled substances in the future.
There are 3 main tokens that you can add to your account today:
- App that you install on your device (also called a soft token), such as ID.me authenticator app
- Physical device (also called a fob or hard token) from Onespan or Symantec
In Activate EPCS in iPrescribe, you downloaded the ID.me Authenticator app and associated it with your account already.
Also in Activate EPCS in iPrescribe, you ordered the physical authenticator (also called a fob or hard token) to arrive at the address you entered. To associate this device to your iPrescribe account:
1. Log in to the iPrescribe app.
2. Go to the main menu.
3. Select Settings.
4. Select Manage Authenticators.

5. Enter your login password for iPrescribe and the 6-digit one-time pin (OTP) from your ID.me Authenticator app.
6. Prescribers will land on the Token Manager screen.
7. To add the physical device you received in the mail to your account:
- Select Add New Token
- Choose OneSpan Hard Token
- Choose a nickname (that will help you identify that token in a list)
- Enter the Serial Number, printed on the back of your token
- For OneSpan hard token, enter the code without any spaces or dashes.
- Enter the 6-digit code currently showing on the token after pressing the power button

4. Select Manage Authenticators.
5. Enter your login password for iPrescribe and a 6-digit one-time pin (OTP) from your ID.me Authenticator app.
